Andrew Holness Highlights Healthcare Innovation in Meeting with Surgix Jamaica CEO
KINGSTON, JAMAICA — Prime Minister Andrew Holness says innovation and private sector investment will continue to play a major role in strengthening Jamaica’s healthcare system following discussions with Dr. Bohan, Chief Executive Officer of Surgix Jamaica Ltd..
In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), Holness said the meeting focused on expanding medical technology, improving healthcare delivery, and positioning Jamaica as a regional hub for medical innovation and healthcare services.
“This afternoon, I met with Dr. Bohan, CEO of Surgix Jamaica Ltd., to discuss the important role of innovation and private sector investment in strengthening Jamaica’s healthcare system,” Holness stated.
Expanding Medical Technology and Healthcare Solutions
According to the Prime Minister, Surgix Jamaica Ltd. has continued contributing to the advancement of medical technology and surgical solutions within Jamaica’s healthcare sector.
Holness said the discussions explored opportunities to:
- Expand access to modern healthcare solutions
- Improve patient outcomes
- Support growth in Jamaica’s medical sector
- Strengthen regional healthcare services

The Prime Minister also emphasized the government’s interest in developing Jamaica as a regional centre for healthcare innovation and medical services.
“Our discussions focused on opportunities for growth in the medical sector, expanding access to modern healthcare solutions, and positioning Jamaica as a hub for medical innovation and services within the region,” he added.
Healthcare innovation and technology have increasingly become important sectors for economic development and healthcare modernization across the Caribbean.

Holness reaffirmed the government’s commitment to creating an environment that supports investment, innovation, and partnerships aimed at improving quality of life for Jamaicans.
