The Promise of Liberty: A Groundbreaking Exhibit Showcasing America’s Founding Documents

New York, NY  — This weekend, Seth Kaller, Inc. will unveil an inspiring exhibition titled The Promise of Liberty, presenting a rare opportunity to explore the foundational documents that shaped the United States. The exhibit will be held at the Empire State Rare Book and Print Fair, located at City College of New York, from September 17 to 29.

In a poignant reflection of America’s journey toward equality, The Promise of Liberty brings together significant historical artifacts, including the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. These documents, along with pivotal amendments that abolished slavery and expanded voting rights, serve as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for justice and representation.

Among the highlights of the exhibit is a rare first exact facsimile of the Declaration of Independence, inscribed by John Quincy Adams. This unique piece, which is the only known example of its kind, adds a personal touch to the collective memory of America’s founding principles. Also on display is an advanced text of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s speech for the historic March on Washington, further illustrating the enduring fight for civil rights.

Kaller, a renowned expert in historic documents, envisions the exhibit as a platform to inspire current and future citizens. “When shown together, historic documents like these can remind us that the strength of America comes from the contributions of people of all abilities, colors, creeds, classes, castes, sexes, and genders,” he stated.

The exhibit not only honors historical figures such as Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tubman but also features artifacts reflecting the contributions of diverse groups throughout American history, including a letter from George Washington, the Seneca Falls Declaration of Sentiments, and Jesse Owens’ 1936 Olympic gold medal.

As part of the broader Empire State Rare Book and Print Fair, which features over 40 exhibitors showcasing rare books and prints, The Promise of Liberty aims to engage visitors in discussions about democracy and civil society. Kaller is actively seeking partners to incorporate cutting-edge technology like augmented reality and immersive media to enhance the exhibit experience, making history accessible and engaging for all.

Looking ahead, Kaller plans to take the exhibit on a nationwide tour in 2026, coinciding with the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. This ambitious project will be part of the Sail 4th 250 initiative, which will feature tall ships from 30 nations to celebrate America’s milestone.

The exhibition runs until September 29, with tickets available for $20 ($10 for students, free for those under 16 or with a valid CCNY student ID). A preview night is scheduled for September 27 from 5 PM to 9 PM, with tickets priced at $60.

This remarkable exhibit not only pays homage to America’s founding ideals but also serves as a reminder of the ongoing journey toward a more inclusive and equitable society. For those in the New York area, The Promise of Liberty is an unmissable opportunity to connect with the very documents that define the nation’s democratic principles.
