The Rights of Persons with Disabilities is being given priority in Barbados.
June 9, 2022 | Colin O. Jarrett | The Rights of Persons with Disabilities is being given priority in Barbados.
A draft policy and legislation is expected to come into effect November 30. This follows the recent launch of the Advisory Committee to guide the establishment of a Commission for Improving the Lives of Persons with Disabilities.
One of the main tasks of the Committee has been to develop the terms of reference for the Commission for Improving the Lives of Persons with Disabilities, working towards the preparation of a set of robust disability regulations and establishing relationships with other ministries through Memoranda of Understanding to solicit information.
The Commission is now training health professionals, representatives of local authorities, anti GBV actors and some Civil Society Organizations interested in rights of Persons with Disabilities, on the rights of persons with disabilities & the prevention of Gender Based Violence pic.twitter.com/tZpRqcojCB
