Toronto FC to rotate squad for Canadian semifinal rematch with Montreal Impact (SOC-Montreal-Toronto)

TORONTO _(AP) Expect some Toronto FC lineup changes as manager Greg Vanney rotates his squad for Wednesday’s second leg of the Amway Canadian Championship semifinal against the Montreal Impact.

Montreal won the first leg 1-0 last week at Saputo Stadium.

Vanney will likely rest some of his starters to keep their minutes down with a busy May schedule.

Chris Konopka is expected to continue in goal, with Joe Bendik recovering from a foot problem. Defenders Steven Caldwell and Mark Bloom are also still hurting,

Vanney says Bloom’s quadriceps issue has healed but he is now experiencing back spasms.

The semifinal series winner will play either the Vancouver Whitecaps or FC Edmonton for the right to represent Canada in next year’s CONCACAF Champions League.

Montreal made it all the way to the Champions League final this year before losing to Mexico’s Club America.

Both Montreal and Toronto re coming off 2-1 league losses at home on the weekend: Montreal to Portland and Toronto to Houston
