A 16 year-old girl and a 57 year-old truck driver are in custody following the seizure of 1,500 pounds of ganja valued at nearly 300 million Jamaican dollars or 2 million US$.
They were held during a police operation in Stony Hill, St Andrew, Jamaica on the weekend. A statement from the police says shortly before 3PM on Friday, the Narcotics Division and the St Andrew North Police intercepted a truck on St Christopher’s Road.
The truck was searched and the ganja reportedly found. The man and the teenager were taken into custody and later charged with breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act. The teenager has been placed in state care.
They are both scheduled to appear in Court on August 8.
