Uncapped Evin Lewis named as replacement for Lendl Simmons
KOLKATA, India _ Former champion West Indies has named uncapped opener Evin Lewis as a replacement for the injured Lendl Simmons in the squad for the World Twenty20 which commenced with its preliminary league on Tuesday.
Simmons was ruled out last week due to a back injury. Lewis, a 24-year-old left-hander who plays for Trinidad and Tobago, was selected in keeping with a policy to try out youngsters, chief selector Clive Lloyd said.
The West Indies team plays warm-up matches against India on Thursday and against Australia on Sunday before it opens its campaign in the Super 10s with a game against England in Mumbai on March 16.
West Indies won the title in Sri Lanka in 2012.
