Woman killed by lion in South Africa game preserve grew up in New York; funeral Saturday
RYE, N.Y.(AP) _ Funeral for Katherine Chappell, the American woman who was mauled to death by a lion in a South Africa game reserve, is planned for Saturday.
Chappell’s family in New York where she grew up posted a statement on Facebook describing her as brilliant, kind and adventurous.
A South Africa park official said the woman was attacked through an open car window as she took photos. The driver also was injured. The official says park rules require car windows to be closed.
