Xyclone Dominates Charts with “The Sounds of Gambia” EP
Kingston, Jamaica – Dancehall star Xyclone has once again demonstrated his global appeal with the release of his latest EP, The Sounds of Gambia, distributed by OneRPM. The EP, which debuted on November 8, has taken the charts by storm, peaking at number 2 on the US iTunes Reggae Albums Chart, second only to Bob Marley.
All tracks from the project have performed remarkably well, securing spots in the top 20 of the US iTunes Reggae Singles Chart. Among them, the collaboration “Dem Nuh Bad Like We” featuring Gambian artist Hussain Dada peaked at number 12, while tracks like “Yaba H+ Remix,” “Twerk,” “Who Fah,” “South Africa,” and “Head Chip” claimed spots from 13 to 17 respectively.
The lead single, “Who Fah,” has been particularly impactful, amassing over 1 million views across social media platforms and earning placements on Apple Music playlists such as Pressure Drop, Worldwide Riddim, and Tun Up. A recently released music video for the track is gaining traction on YouTube, further cementing its popularity.
Another standout from the EP, “Yaba H+ Remix,” featuring Gambian dancehall artist Asidik, debuted at number 1 on the U.S. iTunes Reggae Music Videos Chart on October 25. The track held the top spot for nearly two weeks, showcasing the growing influence of African-Caribbean collaborations in the reggae and dancehall genres.
The Sounds of Gambia highlights Xyclone’s innovative approach to fusing traditional reggae and dancehall with the vibrant sounds of Africa, bridging cultures through music.
