The First Annual BedStuy Film Festival Comes to Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, N.Y.Sept. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — The purpose of the BedStuy Film Festival (“BSFF”) is to provide a platform through which films from diverse perspectives can be showcased. Founded by Richard Beavers and Nickie Robinson, this nonprofit organization seeks to increase the exposure of filmmakers from diverse backgrounds, especially local ones, and is committed to spotlight new voices and views from a variety of cultural, gender, racial, and age perspectives.

On Friday, September 21, 2018, the Bed Stuy Film Festival will officially launch at the renowned Richard Beavers Gallery, located at 408 Marcus Garvey Blvd., in the heart of the historic neighborhood, Bedford–Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.

Opening night will include a short film, called an “Experiment With Love” created by up and coming filmmaker, J.T. Louis, panel, and launch party which starts promptly at 7pm EST. To attend opening night, rsvp at

Submissions for the 2019 BSFF will begin on October 1, 2018. Categories include: Narrative Feature Films, US Documentary Feature Films, U.S. Short Films, Foreign Films, and Episodic Content along with a Special Children’s Film category to encourage youth to showcase their talents.
