Windrush Conference, UK

Breaking News

As the saga of the Windrush generation drags on it is becoming increasingly apparent that promises given are either slow in coming or may never come to fruition at all.  An eight month old pressure group named “The Windrush Movement” has been formed to put additional pressure on the UK government has been working.

Dr. Desmond Jaddoo, co-chairman of the Movement who was recently in Jamaica sees “mistrust” among the governments as a real obstacle.

National Conference

Dr. Jaddoo will be representing the Windrush Movement at a Windrush national conference to be held tomorrow at the Nottingham University in UK.  The Movement has helped hundreds of displaced Windrushers to get justice.

Hostile
The hostile environment created by the then Theresa May led Home Secretary has proven to be a “self-made embarrassment” for the British government.
Many West Indians, especially Jamaicans went to Britain to restore some sense of normalcy following the widespread destruction … the aftermath of bombing by the invading German forces … having done the heavy lifting and done the dirty work these hardworking subjects came to the rescue of the motherland.  You will recall that West Indians were colonized by Britain … as part of the British Empire.
Background
Since the outcry regarding the treatment of the Windrush generation the British government has been promising to correct errors made.  A form of face saving exercise … these promises are commendable if they can bear fruit.  From all indications to date they only remain as empty promises.  We hope this is not putting further insult to injury.  Time tell.
