In a groundbreaking move to honor the vibrant legacy of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) marching bands, Webber Marketing (WM) is set to release the acclaimed National Battle of the Bands (NBOTB) documentary series on YouTube. The series, presented by Pepsi, marks a milestone celebration of ten years of showcasing the dynamism and cultural significance of HBCU marching bands.

The inaugural film, “A Salute to HBCU Marching Bands,” originally aired in 2021, will kick off the series’ YouTube premiere on Friday, April 26, at 8:00 p.m. EST. Subsequent releases, including “A Salute to the Battle” from 2022 and “The Road to Houston: Preparing to Battle” from 2023, will follow on May 3 and May 10, respectively, with each premiere scheduled for 8:00 p.m. EST.

Derek Webber, CEO of Webber Marketing and Founder of the National Battle of the Bands, expressed his enthusiasm for the series, stating, “These films are more than just retrospectives; they’re a celebration of the enduring spirit and evolving journey of HBCU marching bands.”

The NBOTB documentary series offers viewers an intimate look into the storied traditions, preparation, and influence of HBCU marching bands, highlighting their role as cultural icons and educators within the African American community. Band members, directors, and other notable figures share their unique stories and experiences, underscoring the profound impact of HBCU band culture.

Moreover, the NBOTB serves a larger purpose beyond entertainment, as it aids in providing scholarships for participating colleges and universities. This mission aligns with the series’ goal of showcasing the talent of aspiring musicians and fostering the development of future leaders within the HBCU community.

In celebration of Black Music Month in June, the most recent installment, “The Legacy of HBCU Marching Bands,” will be syndicated across over 50 markets, further extending the reach and impact of the documentary series.
