Broken arm puts New Zealand allrounder Grant Elliott in doubt for ODI against Sri Lanka

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) _ New Zealand allrounder Grant Elliott will be sidelined for at least a month after breaking his arm in a training accident.

Elliott put his arms up to defend himself from a ball that had been struck at him in the nets and suffered a fracture close to his wrist.

He is expected to be out of action for four to six weeks, putting him in doubt for New Zealand’s one-day international against Sri Lanka on Boxing Day.

Elliott said, “My hand feels pretty good but mobility could be the issue.”

New Zealand will play one-day internationals against Sri Lanka, Australia and Pakistan over the next few months and Elliott is expected to be a key player after his standout performance at this year’s Cricket World Cup.
