Toronto, ON – Today, Echlo aka Chloe Charles, Toronto’s celebrated multi-genre musician releases the debut single “Beat Drops” from her anticipated forthcoming album I Was I (May 31st).

Splitting her time between Mexico and Toronto, Echlo – the stepsister of Julian Lennon, and daughter of the late famous Caribbean and European nightclub impresario Noel Charles – whose previous work has been lauded in Billboard, Rolling Stone, BBC, The Times (London), Glamour (France), VICE, Mojo (UK), Elle (Germany), Guitar World and CBC q, spent the last few years becoming a mother while simultaneously strengthening her songwriting and mastering her vocal capabilities, and the early results have been awe-inspiring.

North American Echlo fans might have already caught wind of the “Beat Drops” teaser video – directed and produced by Davide Santi and Cinechal – that came out late last year and has been making waves globally. The video is an international collaboration filmed in Milan (Italy) and Guadalajara (Mexico) with both the directors and dancers in each distinct location, separated by continents, searching for love, but unable to find each other.

“We search for unconditional love, yet we are misled by society’s addiction to ‘better’ “, explains Echlo, who while recording under her original performance (and birth) name Chloe Charles, won a wide range of awards in Canada and the US over the last decade including the SiriusXM Best Soul/R&B Artist of the Year, John Lennon Songwriting Competition, Victor Martyn Lynch-Staunton Prize for Artistic Excellence (Canada Arts Council), and the Harbourfront Centre’s Soundclash Award given to the city of Toronto’s best indie musician.

She adds: “We are distracted by the false perception of infinite choice and the pressure to endlessly achieve. We want to be loved, with all our flaws accepted, but too many of us run away when the adrenaline slows, when the initial excitement dwindles…when the Beat Drops.”
