Three time Talent Contest winner, The Informative History Man, is hoping to lift the title of  this year’s JCDC ( Jamaica Cultural Development Commission) Festival Song Competition; his song being “Proud A Mi History”.

“I can tell you for sure that I am going into the competition to win, regardless of who decides to enter this year.

“I will be lifting the bar of the competition. We need a song which can educate the people about our culture, and one which is entertaining. I have this song.

“So many people are not aware of our history. They don’t even know who is the first Prime Minister of Jamaica, 0r our national heroes, who have made such sterling contributions to nation building.

“So, when this song wins, it will be a national anthem, and a song for all season. Tourists and others, will go back to their country being aware of the importance of Jamaica’s culture. And, students will learn more about their history.

The riddim, made by Unique Vision Band, is one which has ska and mento – all components of reggae beats.”

The Informative History Man’s first win came from the Popcorn Talent Search with a song titled ” History of Jamaica” in 1997. A year later (1998), he won with the same song at the Portmore Talent Search, then copped Tastee Talent Contest in 2000.

Born Andrew Kiffin, he has recorded over 100 songs and released two albums – Chronology Volume 1 and Time With Patience. The Third-Chronology Volume 11, is soon to be released.

He has travelled to, and performed in more than 16 countries, including France, Germany, England, Canada and the US, in addition, to being an exponent of Black History.
