JUNO Award nominated rapper Solitair releases new album Dangerous Art

Toronto, ON (August 22nd, 2023) – JUNO Award-nominated artist Solitair releases his new album Dangerous Art Volume 1The five track album features guests JRDNDJ GrouchRich KiddKibraEverythingOShaun and SHAHI and is the first volume of a two-part album project, with the second volume to be released in early fall. Most credible music industry insiders have witnessed the world class multi-hyphenate (songwriter, producer, artist) work above ground and in the shadows over the years writing, crafting and producing some of your favorite timeless Toronto rap music anthems; he produced Kardinal Offishall’s ground breaking “Bakardi Slang” single in 2001, and that same year released “Easy To Slip”, his first single to be nominated for a JUNO Award for Rap Recording of the Year in 2002.

“Music is art imitating life imitating art. Hip Hop is one of the most influential musical genres of all time, with the power to both heal and harm. A power that can be unleashed for better or worse. Any artist who understands the power they possess, knows that they carry the burden of being responsible for how that power is used. The results can be beautiful but dangerous at the same time,” says the prolific producer and songwriter whose first taste of commercial notoriety came as a result of producing four tracks on JUNO-winning rapper Choclair’s gold-selling Ice Cold debut album, while being featured on a few other tracks. “While honouring that responsibility is a choice, the influence that comes with it is not. The concept of my new project Dangerous Art Vol. 1 is to elevate the awareness of fans and artists alike, for it is only within that awareness that we can direct the energy of our ART to resonate with upliftment and without reservation.” As part of the album release rollout, Solitair has released a new hybridized music video for two of the album’s buzzworthy tracks “The Theme Song + Fire Blaze featuring Rich Kidd” directed by Yvano Antonio.

In the early aughts, Solitair toured the world with Choclair and Kardinal Offishall and spent five years moving between New York and Toronto while working with notable American and international artists including Nina SkyLil WayneTrey SongzBusta RhymesEstelleRick RossElephant Man, and Jim Jones. Back home in Toronto, Solitair had also established an impressive track record of producing and co-producing songs for a laundry list of iconic award-winning Canadian rap and R&B icons including Jully BlackMelanie FionaGlenn Lewisk-os, and The Rascalz. By 2010, Solitair had already carved out his musical unicorn status by crafting the pop-influenced, alternative smash “Come True” featuring Kardinal Offishall, that was nominated for a Juno Award for Best R&B/Soul recording of the year, an accomplishment that placed him in the rare company of artists who’ve been nominated for JUNO Awards in more than one genre. Dangerous Art Volume 1 provides a powerful and brief glimpse into his future.
