Deejay Kryme Rate, who claims he has won over 100 deejay contest in Jamaica, was the decisive winner in the first of three elimination in the Champion Bwoy Karaoke and Talent Search Competition. This was held at Champion Bwoy HQ in Summerfield, Clarendon on October 2, 2022.

The Kingson born, Clarendon based deejay won over Johnny “Brawling” Richards (1st runner-up) and  Threcel “Treazure” Powell (2nd runner-up).

Kryme Rate, given name Andre Robinson, was the the toast of the night orchestrating a slew of lyrical blast which had the other competitors uneasy.

Kryme Rate in winning expressed gratitude to the promoter for giving back to communities through his over 20 years in music. “I appreciate what you are doing. This is another opportunity for all of us to shine.”

Robinson added that his win is only the beginning of greater things to come.

Kryme Rate, from the initial stage, proved hard to beat but, promoter Owayne” Champion Bwoy” Thompson has put out a warning .

“I would like to caution everyone not to talk about winning until the last minute of the competition. There are competitors who put out their best effort in the final round. So, don’t get too comfortable.”

The winner of the competition will bag $150,000 in cash and prizes which includes a recording contract.

The competitions aim is threefold. To give people of all ages the opportunity to expose talent; provide incentive for hard work and to instill the values of friendly competition, despite political affiliation, race or colour.

Competitors are judged on content which must be positive, stage presentation, crowd response, deportment and dress.

The finals will be held November 6, 2022.
