OTTAWA – National men’s soccer coach Benito Floro will go with a mix of veterans and young players for Canada’s upcoming game against third-ranked Colombia.

Veterans Julian de Guzman, David Edgar and Tosaint Ricketts will lead the Canadian side on Oct. 14 at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J. Youngsters like goalkeeper Quillan Roberts and defenders Jeremy Gagnon-Lapare and Karl W. Ouimette were also named to the 22-man roster Friday.

“The match against Colombia will be very difficult for us, due to the quality of the opponent,” Floro said in a release. “At the same time, the game will be a very interesting test for us as we need to see our competitive level and our spirit against top teams.

“The most important question for us is the attitude and at the same time to keep confidence in our capacity to create chances in the attack.”

Floro guided Canada to a 3-1 victory last month over Jamaica. That ended a 16-game winless skid for the Canadian side, which currently holds the No. 120 position in the FIFA rankings.

The Canadians will hold a camp in Mexico next week before making the trip to New Jersey on Oct. 11.
