Bajan Soca Queen Alison Hinds Brings the Heat to The 2024 RBC Black Diamond Ball
This Year’s Theme: A Tribute to You
Toronto, ON – The signature event of Black History Month, The 9th Annual Black Diamond Ball takes place THIS SATURDAY, February 24th, 2024 at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel, Black Carpet begins at 6pm EST.
The Queen of Soca: Alison Hinds will be headlining this year’s Ball, bringing the carnival heat to wintery Toronto. “We are so excited to have Alison as the headliner – typically its R&B that closes out the night,” explained Shawn Cuffie, Operations Director for ArtXperiential Projects. “But we always like to shake things up, and more importantly, we want to showcase all aspects of Black culture.”
Hosted by journalist Maggie John, the line-up this year is spectacular, featuring The Soul Motivators, the winner of The Vocalist – Osé Allenotor, RBCxMusic performer Ethiopian-Canadian singer songwriter Liza; presenters include former Ontario MPP Mitzie Hunter, Culinary TV expert Trudy Stone and Psychotherapist Roxanne Francis.
Also new, ten Black community members and allies will be recognized for their contributions, and a scholarship will be given to a deserving Black student. The keynote speaker for the night is Lee-Anne Lyon Bartley, lovingly known as Canada’s Safety Diva. She is currently Executive Vice-President, Health, Safety, Environment and Quality at Dexterra Group. Lee-Anne will be addressing the barriers to senior leadership, the Black experience once you break through, and she will elaborate on this year’s theme: A Tribute to You.
The Black Diamond Ball brings together the community and its supporters to celebrate the conclusion of Black History Month and accomplishments of the community.
