Bermuda House of Assembly Passes Legislation Legalizing Cannabis

March 30, 2022 | Vision Newspaper |

The House of Assembly in Bermuda has again passed controversial legislation making it legal to grow and sell cannabis.

The British Overseas Territory says it remains to be seen whether the Governor gives it the royal assent.

The Cannabis Licensing Act 2022 would create a regulated framework for the growth and sale of the drug.  At present, it is illegal to be in possession of more than 7 grams of the drug.

The bill was approved last Friday by 18 votes to 6, with all opposition One Bermuda Alliance Members of Parliament voting against it.
