KINGSTON, Jamaica _ Dave Cameron has beaten Joel Garner 8-4 on votes to remain as president of the West Indies Cricket Board.

The election on Saturday at the annual general meeting also returned the vice-president, Emmanuel Nanthan.

Cameron, who was voted in in 2013, said he delivered on promises to launch a six-team professional league, and settled differences with the players association by signing a memorandum of understanding. However, the WICB was still dealing with a $42 million claim for damages from its India counterpart for the West Indies’ withdrawal partway through the tour of India in October.

Garner, the former international and head of the Barbados association, vowed to try and lift the West Indies team’s standing by improving administration and development programs.
