LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Critics of the N.W.A film “Straight Outta Compton” have noted that a well-known 1991 incident in which Dr. Dre assaulted a female journalist was not included in the movie. Turns out it was in the original script. The Los Angeles Times reports Dre’s attack on Dee Barnes was in an earlier version of Jonathan Herman’s screenplay. Director F. Gary Gray has said the director’s cut of the film was three and a half hours long and he had to cut a lot. He says he wanted to stay focused on the group.
