Former Belize Government Minister Rene Montero Wanted for a Criminal Charge

The police have sought the intervention of INTERPOL to apprehend and arrest former Government Minister in Belize Rene Montero, who is wanted for a criminal charge.

According to reports coming out of News 5 Live, a copy of the notice which bears a picture of the former minister, his name, address and other particular reads in part that he is wanted for a charge of Willful Oppression, an offense that carries a maximum prison term of two years.

The report further states that during the time as Minister of Works, it is alleged that Mr Montero directed and permitted the use of government property assigned to the ministry to carry out work on his personal private property, family members’ properties and close associates which abused the power of his office.
