June 9, 2021 | Hopeton O’Connor-Dennie |

The embattled MP for Central Westmoreland, George Wright has returned to Parliament on June 8, 2021  as an Independent Member. This follows closely on his resignation from the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP).  This is thirteen days before he is scheduled to return based on his leave of absence.

 Cliff Hughes said inter alia:

“George Wright has refused to deny or confirm if he is the person believed to be on a tape beating a woman. Should we continue to have a woman beater sitting in our Parliament?  I know people are going to come after me”

The award winning Journalist Clifton “Cliff” Hughes was speaking on Nationwide News Network (NNN), his talk show ‘Cliff Hughes On Line” aired June 9, 2021.

No Evidence

There is no credible evidence the person allegedly seen on that tape is one George Wright.  So the question that must be asked is why Cliff Hughes making comments which can be construed without credible evidence that MP George Wright is the person on that tape? The police have examimed the tape and has found no credible evidence linking him to this tape.  They have since closed their files on the matter.

Morality Police

Mr. Clifton “Cliff” Hughes for his own reasons and purposes has chosen to appoint himself as judge, jury and executioner on the George Wright debacle.  In fact he has been labelled as the morality police by the undersigned.

Natural Justice

All persons accused of any offence is deemed innocence until found guilty in a court of law.  All are all entitled to such courtesies, even Cliff Hughes himself.

Commentary

We recall the story in the Bible of the woman who was accused of adultery and was about to be stoned to death. Jesus said inter alia:

“Those without sin let them cast the first stone”

We are awaiting on the accusers to cast the first stone.

People like Cliff Hughes et al must put up or shut up.  Too much noise.  Empty barrels they say,  make a lot of noise. Some of those who are overly critical have their reasons. I say no more. Let us not behave as if we are perfect. None us are even close to that mark.  We have no evidence that they have skeletons in their closets. We don’t care either. Let God be the judge.
