Jamaican Pioneers Honored in Atlanta for Contributions to Community Development

In a celebration of excellence and community impact, Jamaican pioneers in Atlanta, Georgia were honored at the fourth staging of the Jamaican Pioneers 2024 celebrations. The virtual event, themed ‘Our Stories, Jamaican Pioneers in Georgia’, recognized the outstanding contributions of individuals who have made significant strides in community development, both locally and internationally.

Attorneys Allan Alberga and Anthony Lee Hing stood out among the honorees, lauded for their dedication to advancing the Jamaican community’s interests abroad. Their resilience and commitment in the face of challenges as Jamaican immigrants in the United States earned them high praise from attendees.

Organized by Dr. Elaine Bryan, Jamaica’s Honorary Consul in Atlanta and Real Estate Broker, the event showcased the accomplishments of these remarkable individuals while emphasizing the importance of recognizing Jamaican excellence on a global scale.

In his address, Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Hon. Alando Terrelonge, commended the honorees for their generosity of spirit and unwavering commitment to their homeland. He also highlighted Dr. Bryan’s pivotal role in championing the achievements of Jamaicans abroad and fostering a sense of unity within the community.

“We are both family and strategic partners in a journey towards a prosperous future. We continue to work to secure the growth and development of this country we all call home,” stated Mr. Terrelonge, emphasizing the significance of supporting and partnering with the diaspora overseas.

The event also recognized fourteen other Jamaicans in Atlanta for their outstanding contributions to various fields. Their achievements serve as a testament to the resilience and ingenuity of the Jamaican people.
