Jones & Jones Productions has announced the line-up for JAMBANA™ One World Festival, the Fun For The Family Festival now in its ninth year at Markham Fair Grounds, 10801 McCowan Road at Elgin Mills in Markham on August 6th and 7th, 2017.

With music as the core, this the two-day festival is designed to have fans rock and sway to classic and contemporary sounds, from yesterday and today. Roots to Dancehall, Lover’s Rock, Soca, Calypso and Afrobeat, will pulse all day and friends and family of all ages can enjoy the JAMBANA™ experience which unfolds from 1-9:30PM on both Sunday and Monday.

Headlining JAMBANA™ One World Festival this year are dancehall sensation Assassin, ‘Greetings’ creator Half Pint, who set off 2017 grabbing the festival spotlight at Rebel Salute in Jamaica in January, and Lover’s rocker, Wayne Wonder.  Paying tribute to the late great Joseph Hill, reggae trio Culture, with his son Kenyatta Hill hit the stage as a stop on the 40th Anniversary Culture Tour. Josey Wales, the dancehall general and Heptones’ Leroy Sibbles will keep the Entertainment Village rocking all day long.  Global reggae ambassador and 5-time JUNO Award winner Exco Levi headlines the Canadian contingent which includes JUNO winner Nana McLean.  Soca Monarch Ronnie McIntosh and Moses Revolution bring the Soca and Calypso vibes to keep round out the musical influences of the islands.   Canadian Gospel Minister Marvia Providence with her full band and harmony singers will raise the spirits of JAMBANA™ goers who will celebrate thankfully as the spiritual pause tradition continues at the family festival.
While bands switch over, DJs Metro Media from Jamaica, Britain’s Lloyd Coxone and Germany’s Sillywalks Discotheque will take the party from the stage to the grounds. Teen phenom Joshua Lucas is ready run with the legends as Andre DeGrasse sprinted with Usain Bolt. He represents Canada as one of the ‘youngest and baddest’ on the wheels of steel.  JAMBANA™ Idol returns and will be sure to excite the audience again this year as we get a chance to witness future stars in the making. Registration for the JAMBANA™ Idol contest begins July 1st at JAMBANA.COM/IDOL and 2016 winner Al-Beeno will perform his hit “T.O.R.O.N.T.O” in the Canada 150 tribute, which kicks off both days of the festival.

Visitors to the two-day festival will experience the JAMBANA™ villages hearing, seeing, touching, tasting and learning as they rock to the rhythms of the African and Caribbean diaspora on the stage in the Entertainment village.   Food, Health, VIP, Domino, Travel & Trade and Children’s Villages enhance the JAMBANA™ experience and provide a little something for the entire family.  The two players left standing as the winners of the annual ‘Lick-A-Six’ domino tournament will each win a trip to Jamaica. Fun meets you at every turn during this year’s JAMBANA™ One World Festival.
