Dancehall artiste Charmaine Munroe, aka Macka Diamond, has officially added philanthropy to her list of accolades as her first efforts in her Pregnant Mother’s In Need Charity launched on Mother’s Day.

The artiste, who was originally moved after news broke of young mother to be Jodiann Fearon and her child dying during childbirth; started the charity a few weeks ago in collaboration with the Having Babies At Home foundation.

On Mother’s day, Macka Diamond saw the first successful initiative achieved as the team delivered care packages to 10 expected mothers. This was the first in what is to be a few activities the charity will be executing.

“So many mother’s reached out to me on social media that it was hard to select the first set of pregnant mother’s to assist but the team made it happen, especially during this Covid time there are so many single pregnant women who are struggling and we are glad we were able to help,” Macka shared

The care packages includes items donated from corporate entities and cash donations from a few well intentioned private donors.

“Without our sponsors we wouldn’t be able to do what we have done so far so a big thank you goes out to Chas E Ramson, Podcasters The Fix JA, and multiple cash donors through our Go Fund Me account,” Macka added

Donations included Cubbies diapers and wipes, Foska Oats and Magic sparkling juices, baby powder, oils and an assortment of other baby products as well as cash.

Macka Diamond will also be releasing a new video this week for her Hygiene Police single produced by Blue Sky Productions on their Sanitizer riddim.
