REVEAL Hair and Beauty Festival set for July 17th in Toronto

Wednesday July 6, 2022, TORONTO — After two long years of no hair shows due to Covid, Textur’d Hair & Beauty Show, Meet Me Hair Barber & Beauty Expo, and World of Hair (WOH) Festival have come together to bring you REVEAL, the only show of this kind happening in Ontario.

The long awaited event is a collaboration between three leaders in the local textured hair and beauty business community – Stephanie Joseph (IG @texturd.ca), Founder and Executive Producer of the Textur’d Hair & Beauty Show (formerly Toronto Natural Hair & Beauty Show), Dereck Payne (@majorfade), CEO of Major Fade Barbering School and Producer of Meet Me Hair Barber and Beauty Expo, and Winsom (Winnie) Holder, (@wohfestival), event Producer of World of Hair Festival.

Described by event organizers as “a day filled with live entertainment, education, vendor marketplace, barber and braid competitions, hair and fashion shows, beauty care seminars, live entertainment, and much more,” – it’s all happening at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre on Sunday, July 17th, 2022.

One beauty professional involved in this year’s event is 25-year veteran hair stylist, educator and expert in the health and care of dreadlocks, Karen Wallington (@modlocks), founder of Modlocks salon and education (classes and certification program coming soon) and co-founder of Noggin Oil (@nogginoil), the first and only vegan scalp care products designed and formulated to clean, soothe and protect the scalp between braids, locs and other protective hairstyles. Modlocks is a proud sponsor of this important industry event in her hometown.

“As a result of the pandemic, it has been so long since we have been able to come together and celebrate hair. Thank you to the team at REVEAL for putting together a show that will allow us to do just that.” remarks Karen.

Organizers are excited about Modlocks and Noggin Oil participating in the event, too.

“This barber and beauty sector needed a brand-new, ground-breaking product to upend the status quo. I think Modlocks featuring Noggin Oil is it, and what a fantastic event to launch it in than REVEAL Festival 2022,” said Dereck.

The Modlocks / Noggin Oil team is bringing something more than just fantastic demos and incredible products to the show. “We have a special guest at our booth,” Karen says. “Modlocks is proud to support a not for profit called Hair Story Rooted, A Firm Foundation for the Future of Black Youth in Ontario’s Systems of Care. And one of their founding members, Richard Marcano, will be sharing the mission of the organization at our booth.”

“HairStory is an NFP that aims to elevate the voices of Black youth in Ontario systems of care to help facilitate systemic change,” explains Richard. HairStory was established in 2012, originally as part of the Provincial Advocate’s office (a governing body that ensures children’s rights were met according to the UNCRC). After further investigation, the office found that there were other systemic barriers that Black youth experienced that needed to be addressed, which came to the development of HairStory.

With fabulous hair and beauty, incredible sponsors, and inspirational community organizations, REVEAL Festival is one event the beauty industry in Toronto will never forget.
