Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce & Usain Bolt are world athletes of the year
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce said she was “shocked and excited” after being chosen as world athlete of the year, alongside Usain Bolt. Fraser-Pryce is the he second Jamaican woman to win the award after Merlene Ottey in 1990.
Fraser-Pryce won the three sprint golds at the this years World Championships and ran the year’s fastest 200m. The 27-year-old has six Olympic gold medals and holds the 100 and 200 metres world records.
Usain Bolt won the men’s award for the fifth time in a row, beating Ukraine high jumper Bohan Bondarenko and British distance runner Mo Farah.
