Who is Wassim “Sal” Slaiby, Shenseea’s New Manager

According to Billboard.com Sal signed P. Diddy to Management deal a day after it was announced buy Shenseea that he is also her new manager via her Instagram. The post captioned “I’m happy to have one with such dynamic character on my team!…Lets go XO!”
The post sent entertainment news rooms across Jamaica and social media in a frenzy as comments and news stories reported on the new developments in the dancehall pop princess’ career. Many are speculating on who Sal XO? and whether or not Shenseea is in good Company.
For starters he is the manager of The Weeknd along with a plethora of other Billboard charting artists such as French Montana, Doja Cat and Ty Dolla Sign. He also manages singer Black Atlass, rappers Belly and Nav. The Canadian-Lebanese runs a record label, XO Records but his accolades and power goes beyond music as he sits on the advisory board of Global Citizens and supported relief efforts for persons affected by deadly fires in Los Angeles.
He has also been a key player in Universal Music’s development of artists in the Middle East and North Africa. In April this year at the launch of Universal Arabic Music (UAM) in partnership with Sal, Sir Lucian Grainge, Chairman and CEO of Universal Music Group commented in The Tennessee Tribune on Sal’s character, “Sal’s incredible character…alongside his track record of helping to break global artist, he will bring a unique vision, strategy and power to Universal Arabic Music.”
Republic Records Founder and CEO Monte Lipman added, “His ability to identify, curate and deliver talent globally remains a force of nature”.
For his work in the music industry Sal was recognized as Billboard 40 Under 40 Music’s Top Young Power Players in 2015, Billboard’s Power 100 in 2017 and 2018, Variety Magazine’s Manager Of The Year in 2020 and a Billboard International Power Player in 2021.
When the global pandemic started, the Lebanese native raised over $100 thousand dollars for the World Food program.
He commented in Global Citizen that, “I am proud to have raised over 100 thousand in less than 24 hours for Lebanon.
For his philanthropy Sal earned him and his wife a visit with the Pope which he detailed in a Billboard magazine interview, “I was fortunate enough to receive an invite. The head of the Vatican had heard about my wife and I, and the great difference our love was making in the world. Without recognition, we always offer help to our church and any child in need.”
Sal Told Variety Magazine earlier this year, “Our company has grown fast, but we’ve been grinding for almost 20 years”
He further said, “My experience was very focused on the Canadian market, and at the time it was difficult to be taken seriously in the US, but when we started working with Abel, we cracked that code and crashed through the door”.
A door that Shenseea hopes to enter as she leverages her new management relationship with Sal.
He welcomed Shenseea with a comment on her post, “I’m blessed to be by your side sis! Let’s Go”.
