Diaspora Focus

This is the first column will be focusing on the diaspora. In this Vision allotted space the dreams, achievements of those Jamaicans who have lost their citizenship and continue to be part of the Jamaican Society although for their own reasons chose to live elsewhere. These Jamaicans will not be forgotten nor their achievements not recognized.

You may wish to call this the diaspora corner. On this corner no law enforcement officer can charge you for loitering and ask you to move on and keep moving. It is your space and you are expected to own and feel proud of this ownership.

Diaspora support contribute much to the growth and development of our economy by remittances and investments in real estate etc. Many Jamaicans who become part of the diaspora plan to return later on in life as a returning resident. They say no where better than yard. The newly appointed Foreign Minister hailed the invaluable contribution of members of the diaspora.

The Net International Reserves (NIR) is a measure of the amount of goods and services that your foreign exchange can buy …12 weeks of goods and services is considered the international standard. Jamaica has long met this requirement. Remittances help us to meet this requirement.
