Authorities seize $7M worth of cocaine off Puerto Rico’s northwest coast

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico _ The U.S. Coast Guard has seized an estimated $7 million worth of cocaine off Puerto Rico’s northwest coast and detained three men from the Dominican Republic.

Spokesman Ricardo Castrodad said Thursday that agents spotted a boat travelling toward Puerto Rico during a routine patrol and found 466 pounds (211 kilograms) of cocaine aboard.

Cocaine seizures across the Caribbean have increased in recent years.
