The arrest of Constable Noel Maitland has changed the whole tone and outlook of this case. There is a feeling that a window has opened to a solution of this case. This was a promising 24 year old female who had a bright future. Not even the body so far has been located so some closure can occur. We have no evidence that she us dead, but the chances of finding her alive dims each passing hour. It is over 12 days that she has not been heard from.
Mother of Donna Lee Donaldson has been hospitalized. Her health is said to have deteriorated since disappearance of daughter Donna Lee Donaldson who lived and both slept in the same bed with her. Family impact of this traumatic event is enormous. Negative victim impact indeed.
In another development the DPP has commended the police on the quality of their investigation in the Constable Noel Maitland and Donna Lee Donaldson and DC Smith love triangle case.
The lawyer for Maitland has confirmed that he was aware that there were rumours that his client Maitland is on a suicide watch. We cannot confirm this as fact. His lawyer Christopher Townsend appeared to be dismissing this rumour.
Senior Superintendent of police Aarons who heads the station where Smith was employed spoke publicly about Maitland’s arrest.
“Maitland was being tracked as orders from the High Command to arrest Constable Maitland. The fugitive apprehension team located Maitland on Duke Street where the arrest was made”
So stated SSP Aaron as he is reported on Maitland’s arrest.
The impact of this case has been most impacting on not only the family, but the wider society. The share demand for the flow of information has been extensive. Public interest has been keen. Rumours and speculations have been much. We hope closure will occur and justice will be speedily served.
