George Floyd’s Brother Surfaces / Independent Autopsy Completed
June 2, 2020 | By Hopeton O’Connor-Dennie |
“We are a peaceful family, this will not bring back my brother. He would not have wanted this. Go out and vote …” George Floyd’s Brother addressing crowd and striking a peaceful note.
Third Degree Charge
The police officer Derek Chauvin, one of the four cops now fired, has been slapped with 3rd degree murder and manslaughter charges. The other three former cops are yet to be charged.
This charge of 3rd degree murder relates to a “depraved mind”. This is a strange charge that is not widely known or used outside Minneapolis. A dozen of convictions have been gotten under this statute. To convict in the case of a jury one would be asked to go into the mind of the accused. This is not easy to prove or arrived at.
In 2017 a black cop named Mohamed Noor who shot a white woman was convicted under this 3rd degree charge in the same city of Minneapolis.
1st Degree Murder
In light of the results of an independent autopsy ordered by the family of George Floyd, the family is asking that 3rd degree and manslaughter charges be upgraded to 1st degree murder.
Unknown To Us
This is the first time this brother of George Floyd has surfaced as a visible actor in this matter since it unfolded seven days ago when this murder occurred in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The scene of a 46 year old Black Man who was killed by a quartet of white police officers. It was a take down for an alleged twenty dollars said to be a false note allegedly tendered by George Floyd at a store in Minneapolis, Mn. USA.
For the record, this is a misdemeanor offence in law. A life was taken for that.
