Jamaican Radio Presenter Junior “Catman” Whyte” receives award from Mayor of Mount Vernon NY

Jamaican radio presenter Junior “Catman” Whyte has received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Mayor of Mount Vernon New York.  This Certificate of Appreciation is in recognition of the 6 year anniversary of the radio presenters radio show syndication on Future FM in the state of New York.

Catman, based out of the United Kingdom, has been a radio presented in the reggae community in London, England for over 25 years. He has played on several reggae radio stations in England such as City Lock Radio, Lightning FM, Metro Love Radio and others but his most recent endeavour has been to create his own radio station called CatRadio. It is on this station that the radio presenter founded in London, England  more than 6 years ago, that now has synchronized radio programs on FM radio in Mount Vernon New York,  that has been recognized by that citys Mayor.

Since the creation of CatRadio, the station has seen a steady increase of listeners and so becoming the hottest reggae radio station in South London.

Catman being in the industry for as long as he has quickly put together a line up of the hottest DJs the city of London had to offer. He then crossed the pond to America and added DJs in New York and Florida giving CatRadio a unique international reggae flavour but also a presence in the 3 major Jamaican Diaspora markets.  The station plays all types of Black genres of music from RnB to Hip Hip, Reggae and Dancehall.

Cat Radio

This is not the Jamaican radio presenters first award. He has been recognized by the Dancehall Industry in the UK being award the DIA (Dancehall Industry Award) for the best Radio Presenter in England twice. As well as having won a BEFFTA (Black Entertainment Film Fashion Television Award) in 2012.

Catman being in the industry for over 25 years and having the experience and also the vision, launched his radio station mainly on radio streaming platforms like Live Radio, Simple Radio and Streema. This allows CatRadio to reach a wider base of listeners being available on millions of android and apple devices around the world.

When asked in an interview why the DJ had stayed away from launching his radio station on the FM broadband in London England where he has been a presence on the air waves for more than 2 decades the radio Founder said:

“In Norway there is no more FM RADIO Stations. The whole country has completely shut down the FM band and switched entirely  to digital.  Eventually the rest of the world will follow. This is where the radio industry is headed.”
