Kingston’s dance-off today

THE Kingston leg of the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) World Reggae Dance Championship Elimination round is scheduled for Mandela Park in Half-Way-Tree today.

The event is set for 5:00 pm.

The grand final will be held at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre in St Andrew, on Wednesday, August 5, 2015.

The competition, which was started in 2006, gives national and international exposure to talent that exists in reggae, roots and dancehall genres. It is open to dance groups comprising three to six persons, 18 years of age and older and residing in and outside of Jamaica.

The dance-off has attracted entrants from Finland, Guadeloupe and Japan.

Holders of the title include Ivan Squad and Attack Dem Squad from Japan, in 2012 and 2013, respectively.

The current title holders are Endevarous Dancers from St Thomas.
