MAYA ANGELOU GOES HIP-HOP
NEW YORK (AP) _ The grandson of poet Maya Angelou (MY’-uh AN’-juh-loh) says she had a great laugh when she was tickled by something, and she had that laugh when she heard her voice integrated into hip-hop songs. Colin A. Johnson says his grandmother was a fan of the project “Caged Bird Songs” from the very beginning. The album is the creation of Az Yet singer Shawn Rivera and producer RoccStarr. Johnson says even if you’re a big fan of Angelou’s writings, you’ll appreciate them in a whole new way with this music. “Caged Bird Songs” comes out November 4.
