Horne Resigns Senate Appointment

Norman Washington Horne’s behaviour reminds me of a nursery gem that I learnt as a child. Humpty dumpty sat upon a wall,  humpty dumpty had a great fall. All the king’s horses and the king’s men could not put humpty back together again. Also another gem my mother taught me.

We may never know what forced his hand. Was it the disclosure of his US citizenship?  Or was it the decision of the PNP leadership to take legal action to force him to declare his citizenship status.  Whatever it was we are glad it is settled without any further animosity. Hopefully any hurt will heal without any lasting scar.

“What a tangled web we weave when we choose to deceive?” What was Horne’s end game?

The People’s National Party (PNP) and Jamaica can breathe a sigh of collective relief as this potentially dangerous Constitutional nightmare is over. The rebel member appointed Senate-Designate Norman Washington Horne has thrown in the towel.  Dr. Peter Phillips had appointed Norman Washington Horne just before he left the position of leadership as president and Opposition Leader, a Constitutional Office in the PNP in Jamaica, WI.

Peter Bunting’s Day

Today the eleventh December 2020 can rightly be referred to as Bunting’s day.  The way has been cleared for Peter Bunting, the newly appointed Senator by Hon. Mark Golding to be now sworn in as the eight (8) Senator of the PNP.  The PNP had seven Senators sitting for weeks now, which prevented them to block any Constitutional amendment by the JLP.  They were powerless.

Leader Of Opposition Business

Hon Mark Golding has indicated that it is his intention to appoint Bunting not only as the eight (8) Senator, but also as the Leader Of Government Business replacing Senator Donna Scott-Mottley who has occupied this position for sometime now. She was forced to continue last week, much to the dismay of the President Of the Senator Tom Tavares Finson, QC.

Credibility

Norman Horne is as lacking in credibility as Trump’s lawyer, Ruddy Giuliani and President Donald Trump himself.  Both have been trying to discredit the 2020 election that elected candidate now President-Elect Joe Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris as VP-Elect.  Biden got the required 270 and more Electoral votes yet Trump and his gang refused to accept the will of the people.

Embarrassed

Norman Horne has embarrassed himself by being stubborn and lacking the character to be upfront with his citizenship and eligibility to serve in the Parliamentary process.  One is left to shake their head to fully understand his real motive. In the process he has inflicted great damage to his image. Who would take him seriously after this episode of apparent deception and poor judgement?

The nation’s parliament was held hostage as he played his pettty game.

Conclusion

Going forward, this conduct of Norman Washington Horne must not be allowed to happen again. Amend the law to plug this loophole.
