Perspective: Lisa “Jezebel” Hanna’s Life Threatened

Perspective: Did Lisa “Jezebel” Hanna verbally assaulted Vybz Kartel?

Police are investigating threats, with a view to proferring charges against suspects believed to have breached the Cyber Crimes Law.

Speaking on a radio interview monitored by Vision Newspaper, yesterday February 22, 2017, Ms. Hanna, who was a former Youth and Culture Minister in the PNP Portia Simpson Miller government, said iter alia “anyone convicted of murder should have their music banned and not played on the airwaves”  She questioned how Kartel has been able to produce hits after hits although be in prison … about three years now.  Buju Banton has not had such a fortune.  Kartel is in prison in Jamaica for murder and Buju Baton is in prison in the USA on drug related charges.
Backlash from Cyber Space
Threats to kidnap Hanna, and to rape her … even to kill her have been posted on various media  the cyber space arena.  The police are investigating these threats ad hope to arrest suspects under the cyber crime act.
Freedom of Speech
Many have argued that freedom of speech is under threat and have condemned those who have posted these threats. We do not condone such verbal assaults. Banning free expression, whether in music or otherwise, is not to be tolerated. As a former culture Minister she should have had better judgment.
Freedom carries with it responsibility.  We should never ignore this fact.
Youth View Awards
Kartel won the most awards in the recently held Youth View Awards … some five awards, more than any other artiste.
What is your perspective?  Does two wrongs make a right? Let us hear from you.
