President of Rwanda Paul Kagame arrived in Jamaica for a 3-day visit

President of Rwanda Paul Kagame arrived at the Norman Manley International Airport in Jamaica on Wednesday for a 3-day visit.
The East African president held bilateral talks with Prime Minister Andrew Holness.
Both Jamaica and Rwanda are celebrating 60 years of independence this year. The Rwandan President will be the incoming Chairman of the Commonwealth Conference of Heads of State and Government for the upcoming 2 years.

The next meeting of the Commonwealth countries will be hosted by the Rwandan President at which time a decision will be made on who will be the Secretary General for the next 4 years.
Jamaica’s Foreign Affairs Minister Kamina Johnson-Smith and incumbent Baroness Patricia Scotland will be contenders for the post.
