Ship that outlasted time: Queen Mary celebrates 80 years of public life

Ship that outlasted time Queen Mary celebrates 80 years of public life

Sailing can be so dangerous, what with icebergs and storms.

Canada has a great sailing history long before 1867. You also have world famous water ways like the St. Lawrence and Many great lakes etc.

This ship, The Queen Mary was commissioned/ maiden voyage in 1934 … and survived WW2. The Germans wanted to sink it … Sir Winston Churchill, former wartime Leader, and Statesman sailed on it. It has a worthy history. (See attached link).

The Canadians contributed much to the success and war effort, as part of allied forces that defeated Germany in World War 2.

We owe a debt to those who braved the seas for our freedoms. Long live the memory of those heroes and heroines who selfishly gave their all as they served in combat and non combat roles.
