The last living National Hero in the Cayman Islands has died.
Sybil Ione McLaughlin, 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning at her East End home. She was the first Speaker of the Legislative Assembly and was declared a National Hero in 1996.
The late National Hero was a Member of the British Empire, MBE.
The Hon Sybil Ione McLaughlin, MBE, JP was a beloved and active member of society, and a role model for many Caymanians.
