Caribbean Culture Set to Shine at Hookie Weekend 2024 in Washington, DC
Washington, DC – The vibrant spirit of the Caribbean is set to take over the Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia area as the eagerly awaited Hookie Weekend returns for its 2024 edition. This five-day, six-event festival promises to immerse attendees in rich cultural experiences with its creatively themed J’ouvert and Mas festivities.
Lion’s Pride J’ouvert: Soca Wars
On June 15th, the beloved J’ouvert celebration, ‘Lion’s Pride J’ouvert,’ will kick off the festivities with an explosion of color, music, and merriment. Held at the Rosecroft Raceway from 7 AM, this event invites revelers to partake in the early morning revelry, embracing the traditional street party with mud, paint, and powder. Themed “Soca Wars” for 2024, the drinks-inclusive event will transport participants to an intergalactic carnival experience, celebrating the freedom and fun of J’ouvert.
Riddim & Road: Rise of the Phoenix
June 16th will see the pinnacle of Hookie Weekend with ‘Riddim & Road,’ starting at 2 PM at the Rosecroft Raceway. Known for its vibrant costume creativity, this DJ-driven, drinks-inclusive event will carry the theme “Rise of the Phoenix.” Reflecting the mythical bird’s symbolism of renewal and regeneration, attendees are encouraged to remix their costumes from past carnivals or opt for one of the exclusive ‘Riddim & Road’ mas costumes by K. Adoree Ent, showcased on the HookieLife Entertainment website.
