As the police and forensic analysis of a illegal firearm for which entertainment industry operative Tommy Lee Spartan has pleaded guilty to having in his possession there is the explosive news that it is being alleged that said firearm was fired on several times and shell casings found as scenes of alleged shootouts with law enforcement officers has been identified as having been fired from said gun.

Ballistic Information

It has also been discovered according to police reports that high profile murders of Daddy Fowl, and another of the very popularly known British Linkup Crew Members were the victims believed killed by Tommy Lee Spartan’s illegal firearm? Is this really so?  This is a most serious revelation if proven to be accurate. We have no reason so far to doubt this report.

Ballistic Tests

The law enforcement officials have invested in first world technology which can accurately test bullets fired from a gun and trace such by certain markings.  This is an industry device used internationally.  We have no good reason to doubt such test equipment’s accuracy.  This raises serious concerns for Tommy Lee Spartan and his supporters.

Vybz Kartel et al

Convicted entertainment personality Tommy Lee Spartan who recently pleaded guilty to possession of an illegal firearm was sentenced to three years for said procession of a firearm charges. He now joins Vybz Kartel and other entertainers in prison for gun and other related offences.

Pleaded Guilty

Tommy Lee Spartan pleaded guilty for an illegal firearm taken from his waist band by law enforcement.  He has been sentenced to three years in prison.  We are not sure how long he was in custody for prior to getting bail.  Time served would have been applied, hence a reduction in time to be served after sentencing. He is lucky to be so lightly treated. Based on public outcry in the near future this sentence could go up significantly.

Commentary

Lee Spartan has been accused of being the reputed leader of a gang.

He has denied such a label.  Is this true?  The entertainer’s name has been linked to criminality for some time now.  Why is this so?  No public figure can afford to have your name so tarnished. Now a convict, his name is indelibly etched in the annals of the criminal justice system.

Can Record be Removed?

Be aware that a guilty plea of a convict may be permanent.  Your criminal record is not likely to be ever removed. You will be stained for life. Just fall in line and obey the law.

Commentary

With the high homicide rate in Jamaica where over a 1000 persons are murdered annually with the gun being the choice weapon, the authorities are under fire to do something to stem this trend. This murder rate of 46 per 100,000 is far above international standards.

Snuggled

Illegal guns continue to be snuggled into Jamaica through our porous open entry sea points. Also in barrels and other Legal imports.  Customs do stop some guns from getting in the hands of criminals, but such seizures are believed to be a drop in the proverbial bucket.  Trafficking in illegal guns in exchange for drugs is big business.  Very few arrests, if any are made.  The operatives are believed to be highly placed and are big players.

USA

The United States Of America (USA) is believed to be the main source.  As you may be aware to possess a firearm is a Constitutional Right in America.  There are little or no background checks made.  The very powerful National Rifle Association (NRA) who it is reported fund political campaigns are strong lobbyists to fight back any attempt at gun control legislation.  They argue that guns by themselves do not kill, but people do use them to do so.  How do you successfully argue against such a statement?

In Jamaica to bear arms have to be approved by the Firearm Licensing Authority (FLA).  The Jamaican society can do without such illegal weapons not manufactured there but, being used to arm their citizens.
