News Flash: NSWMA Gets New Garbage Trucks

Local Government Minister Hon. Desmond McKenzie has delivered as promised.  It was on or about June 2017 that the former Mayor of the Municipality of Kingston & St. Andrew who is now Local Government Minister said new garbage disposal trucks would be ordered.

An unknown source advised Vision’s SIC that “some eleven trucks have arrived in the island for delivery to needy areas.”  The informant who asked not to be be identified further stated that ” there are two types of trucks 6 & 10 wheelers … the ten wheelers hold one and a half times the amount of the 6 wheelers.

They are of the International Brand and were specifically designed for the Jamaican conditions.  Those examined by Vision were left hand drive. (See picture attached.

We and hopefully the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) welcome these new garbage collection units and hope they will be effectively maintained.
