UPDATED COVID-19 CONTAINMENT MEASURES

Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Andrew Holness has announced new curfew measures. “This new curfew will remain in effect until December 10, 2021. I will have some consultations with interest groups, and I will definitely call up the Leader of the Opposition (Mark Golding) early so that we can have a consensus as to what to do [during] Christmas,” said the PM.

GATHERING LIMITS (EFFECTIVE FRIDAY OCTOBER 29, 2021)

  • The number of persons permitted to physically attend a wedding remains at 50. The limit on persons physically attending Annual or Extraordinary General Meetings remains at 50 persons. Physical attendance at events hosted by public entities is immitted to a maximum of 50 persons. These are to be controlled functions by invitation only and persons attending will be required to present proof of vaccination.

  • The general public gathering limit remains at 10 persons.
  • Places of worship will continue to be restricted to having no more than 50 persons in attendance. No crusades, conferences or conventions are permitted.

ENTRY PROTOCOLS (EFFECTIVE FRIDAY OCTOBER 29, 2021)

  • In relation to our entry protocols, based on the recommendation of the Ministry of Health and Wellness, we are removing all the banned countries.
  • The pre-testing requirement for persons travelling to Jamaica to present a negative COVID test within 3 days prior to travel remains in place.

FUNERALS AND BURIALS (EFFECTIVE FRIDAY OCTOBER 29, 2021)

  • There are no changes to the existing measures regarding funerals and burials. Funeral services are permitted with a maximum of 20 persons physically present including mourners, clergy and support personnel. Burials are permitted on Monday to Friday between 9 am and 4 pm with a maximum of 15 persons present. As a reminder, burials are not permitted on weekends.

WORK FROM HOME (EFFECTIVE FRIDAY OCTOBER 29, 2021)

  • The existing work from home directive in the public sector remains in place until December 9, 2021. As a precursor to returning to work, Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Agencies must put in place measures to ascertain the vaccination status of staff in the public sector to facilitate risk assessment and planning.

CURFEW HOURS (EFFECTIVE FRIDAY OCTOBER 29, 2021)

  • The curfew hours will be from 8 pm nightly to 5 am the following morning, for every day in the week, up to 5 am.
  • Sundays will no longer be no-movement days.
