2 Chainz is getting an early start on the holiday tradition of giving back.

Chainz and his TRU Foundation hosted a charity drive near Detroit Monday (Nov. 4), raising 4,000 canned goods for local non-profits SOS Food Programs and Food Gatherers. Def Jam, Adidas and Detroit’s Hot 107.5 co-hosted.

“I do different things in different neighborhoods for different reasons,” the G.O.O.D. Music rap star told the station amid signing 800 autographs, posing for photos with fans and detailing future charitable plans. “I got some events coming up on Thanksgiving, as well as Christmas.”

The motivation to give back is his success, he revealed. “When you get blessed like I have the last year or two, you have to figure out some kind of way to give back.”

The “Hairweave Killer” also got personal about his own food habits, when talking about his #MEALTIME cookbook, found in deluxe copies of B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time. The book features a variety of health-conscious seafood options inspired by the 36-year-old’s personal change in diet due to ulcers and acid reflux. “I had a few stomach ailments coming up, having some real bad habits,” he explained, “but it’s all about just finding something that fits you. For me, it was just eating right and things like that, and I just decided to spread that kind of knowledge in my CD.”
