How Long Will Boris Johnson Be A Squatter At No 10

July 14, 2022 | By Hopeton O’Connor-Dennie |

The lame duck Prime Minister of Britain Boris Johnson is homeless and urgently requires a place to house himself and by extension his family.

Although technically Johnson is a squatter at No.10 … he is not likely to be evicted from this piece of prime real estate for the forcible future. He has some form of immunity from eviction as he did not force himself on to the premises. Most self respecting individuals would exit gracefully, but that is not Johnson’s style. He likes to fight.

Trump Incited Mob

Boris Johnson has a Trump-like mentality. You may recall that Trump refused to accept the results of the 2020 elections in the USA. Trump went a step further by inciting a mob to attack Capitol Hill. An enquiry has been probing this atrocity.

Boris Johnson has refused to move out of a prime piece of real estate which happens to be the official residence of the Prime Minister of Britain. He was forced to resign his high profile job as PM as his parliamentary colleagues ganged up against him and he was left with no choice, but to reluctantly resign. He certainly had options to step aside with his dignity left in tact. Yet in his own Boris Johnson style, has opted to hold on to the bitter end hence him being hold up at 10 Downing Street. He has claimed.

“I am the victim of the herd”

Prior to that statement Johnson had said:

“When a PM is faced with difficulty he fights on …”

This last quoted statement gives a clear insight into Johnson’s head space. The British do not have a written constitution so to speak, but they have well established conventions which have served them well. Johnson has debunked the norm and has rewritten the rules. He is quite a character.

Nonsense

What nonsense! He has allowed things to reach to this stage. The writing has been on the wall and it has not been written in vanishing ink.

Conservatives

The conservative Party or Tory as they are referred to by all and sundry have moved against Boris although he has delivered some successes to them. He did what others failed to do. That was to take Britain out of Brexit. They now see Boris as a political liability. The daggers are drawn and like Shylock in Merchant of Venice, they are only interested in their pound of flesh and care little about any blood which may be spilled.

By Elections

The party has lost two important by- elections recently. Boris has been seen as not being trustworthy and was cited for breaking the law as it relates to protocol regulations during the pandemic. He set the rules and broke them with contempt. Boris held parties at No 10 and lied about same. Many were fined as a result of reports, and probes held into the breaches. Johnson himself had to pay a fine. He even caught COVID and was hospitalized before he recovered.

Who will Replace Boris?

Boris Johnson’s replacement we are told, will be chosen by October 2022. That individual will automatically be the next PM. This may happen before that date. Boris has said he is not demitting office until such a vote takes place. 160,000 members of the Conservative Party will decide on a leader to replace Johnson. Will the most famous squatter move out promptly from No.10? So far 8 members have remained in the race. There were 12 most recently. The number will eventually dwindle down to two. Unless they all agree on a compromise candidate which would avoid a vote.

Commentary

The cradle of parliamentary democracy as we know it, is being tested to see if it will stand up to scrutiny. We wish them well. Boris Johnson is dragging the noble British tradition into the mud. This should not be allowed to continue much longer.
