August Alsina Decided Not To Sign To Cash Money

Also a New Orleans native, many thought that August Alsina would indeed fall under the Cash Money wing. Although the rapper ended up taking the Def Jam route, he tells that at first he did consider signing with the rap label but in the end chose a different home.

Waiting around for nearly a year, the New Orleans crooner was in talks with Birdman in efforts to join the YMCMB roster. Ultimately signing with Def Jam, August tells that his focus was simply somewhere else when it came down to the deal. Adding that Birdman and him are still tight, August says the mogul “is like [his] uncle.”
