Reggae-dancehall artiste Black Queen has recorded a fast-tempo love song called ‘Love You Long Time’, that appears to reveal a lot about her personal life, with references to a young marriage at age 18 and a love that has defined her life.

“I felt motivated to write the song to show that you can have a good experience with a man and carry the great memories with you. I know the love of a good man, I will always love and respect that man, and I just wanted to express that in a song,” she said.

She refused to confirm whether or not she got divorced or is separated from the man in question, “the greatest love of her life”.

“I don’t want to say at this point,” she said, laughing. The video for the single will be released in November.

“The video was shot in Baltimore, Maryland, and it has an international feel, with some excellent visual shots. The song itself is doing well, I have been getting good feedback from England, and over in the markets like France and Germany, on Facebook, it is an emotionally charged song,” she said.

Earlier this year, Black Queen went raunchy with her scorching single, Up Inna We Belly, featuring selector Boom Boom and a mad intro by dancer Sadiki.

The single, recorded on Portmore-based Macho Kid’s label, did well at Kingston’s numerous street dances, and a sexy video got a lot of rotation.

Black Queen scored a hit last year with the conscious single, Black N Proud, which peaked at No. 4 on the HYPE TV Top 20 and maxed out at No. 2 on Suzie Q’s Video Alley show on TVJ. The single became an insider sensation in dancehall circles because of its strong lyrical content, catchy delivery and its pro-black sentiments in a nation grappling with its identity, and has endeared Black Queen’s single to local disc jockeys and black power activists.
