One of the high moments of this year’s independence celebrations in Jamaica was the Festival Song competition, one which is expected to unite and entertain the nation.

Dancehall deejay Shaka Pow has been questioned as to why he did not enter his song in the Festival competition.

“I have been asked by scores of people. My response is that the song is a part of a riddim project, and based on the calibre of songs entered in the competition this year, “Community” would have had serious competition.

“I would love to congratulate all ten finalists. Out of this competition, I am sure two or three of the other songs will be quite popular across Jamaica.

The festival song is an important part, a dancer by profession, believes it may have been Shaka Pow’s busy schedule which derailed his interest in entering the competition. “I believe the song would have reached the finals. And, with that in place anything would then be possible, like winning the competition.”

“The Community song captures the significance of unity in a nation. This will motivate people to achieve beyond their imagination.”

“So, we need to see and feel the greatness of the Community song and it’s potential to win the festival”.

The dancehall/ Afrobeat artiste has become one of Jamaica’s most prominent entertainers this year. His Fully Bright initiative in schools secured for him multiple high profile interviews and respect, including IRIE FM’s Road  to Success story.
